On the occasion of World Assistive Technology Day 2025, our students had the opportunity to attend Nepal’s first-ever Assistive Technology Exhibition for blind and low-vision individuals. The event was organized by the Nepal Association of the Blind (NAB) on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 (Jestha 21, 2082) at NAB Hall, Sukedhara-4, Kathmandu.
This milestone exhibition was part of the global “Unlock the Everyday” campaign, which seeks to highlight the limited access to essential assistive technologies for nearly 1 billion people worldwide. The campaign calls for international cooperation to ensure inclusive and accessible technology for all, especially persons with disabilities. The day has been observed globally since 2024 as an initiative of the Global Disability Innovation (GDI) Hub.
During the exhibition, students observed live demonstrations and hands-on use of a variety of assistive tools, including:
The exhibition provided a valuable insight into the world of accessible technology and its transformative role in enhancing independence and inclusion for visually impaired individuals.
